Il motivo per il sermone era la Church Brief del re William, pubblicato in occasione dell’espulsione dei valdesi dal Piemonte nel 1698 e il loro insediamento in Germania. Wake parla inoltre dell’origine apostolica dei valdesi e delle numerose persecuzioni sofferte da loro, in particolare quelle del 1655 e 1686 |
